Before he had The Late Show, David Letterman'sLate Night program revolutionized the late night and early morning hours of television. The show premiered on February 1, 1982 and ran through June 25, 1993. In the intervening 11 1/2 years, Dave and his rowdy crew of regulars and guests would change the way Americans watched television. Featuring TV-firsts like Top Ten Lists, Stupid Pet Tricks, Velcro and Alka Seltzer suits, dropping things off buildings and sarcastic tours of the studio, Rockefeller Center and the surrounding neighborhood, Letterman and his staff took everything that was essential to the idea of television and turned it on its head.
